The 6 Commandments of Successful Dieting

Everyone has heard of the 10 commandments. Today we are discussing the commandments for successful dieting. Most people haven’t heard these before.

To really see best results from any diet plan you choose to use, you need to learn a few “diet commandments.” These are basic guidelines that must be followed if you want to be successful with your diet.

Unfortunately, many people do not follow one or more of these commandments and it prevents them from achieving their goal.

Ready to learn more? Check out the list of six commandments below.

Diet Commandment #1 Drink More Water

This is the one thing that everyone has heard before! Your body needs water to survive and the majority of your body weight is made up of water. Dehydration affects people in different ways. For many people it makes them feel hungry when they are actually thirsty. How much water you should drink is a very individual thing. It is a good habit to start with a large glass of water in the morning as your body is dehydrated from sleep. And if you have a glass before each meal and one after dinner you will probably be off to a good start without feeling like you need to carry a giant water bottle around all day. This commandment is simple and easy. And you can go grab a glass of cold water and get started right now as you read the rest of this article. We also created an in-depth article about how to drink more water.

Diet Commandment #2 Eat Regularly

Often when people go on a diet they start eating less regularly. Which is the wrong approach because they let themselves get too hungry. And we both know what happens later…it often leads to a binge eating episode that is your body trying to fight the hunger!

Then you feel bad because you’ve gone off your diet yet again. But the problem is caused by not eating regularly. Eating regularly will definitely help keep your hunger at bay.

And by feeding your body frequently throughout the day, you’ll help avoid food cravings and energy lows, making it that much easier to stick to your diet program.

Diet Commandment #3 Eat More Protein

Protein is one of the key components of any diet plan and essential for fat loss and maintaining your muscle. Protein helps combat hunger, helps stabilize your blood glucose levels, and also helps prevent lean muscle mass loss.

Protein will help speed up your metabolism and accelerate your fat loss. Make sure you have some protein in each meal and snack you eat.

Diet Commandment #4 Prioritize Fresh Foods

Whenever possible, aim to eat fresh food that is organic and unprocessed. Many processed foods have additives or preservatives. They are also loaded with sodium and even sometimes sugar. These are hidden factors that can cause you to still feel hungry and to not lose weight.

If you can eliminate processed foods and prioritize fresh foods you will feel healthy and your body will thank you!

Fresh foods like fruits and vegetables make for great snacks too. Typically green vegetables are low in calories too. So you can always snack on sliced cucumbers or celery (extra fiber), broccoli, and so on.

Diet Commandment #5 Set Short-Term Goals

Setting goals is something that sets successful people apart from others. And setting short term goals is essential for success when starting a new habit. Otherwise it’s easy to get caught in the feeling that you are not making progress and give up in frustration.

Can you relate?

With your diet, it’s important to set a short term goal. And this is best when it’s not just about “losing __ number of pounds.” That is an outcome goal. Instead you want to have a process goal which is the steps you will take to achieve your weight loss goal. For example, to have an eating plan outlined with what you will eat. Then all you have to do is follow your plan to be successful.

You’ve probably heard many times from experts that a new habit starts with 21 days of efffort, right?

So try thinking in three-week segments. Three weeks is about how long it takes for good habits to form. And it’s easy to stay focused and dedicated so that you are successful.

This is precisely why The Cinderella Diet was created – to help you stay motivated and consistent until you don’t even have to think about making those changes any longer. They’ll just be automatic, and that is the easiest path to losing the weight.

Diet Commandment #6 Stop Comparing Yourself to Others

The last commandment is to stop comparing yourself to others! We have all done this, but you know you should stop because it’s counterproductive, am I right?

Less time on Instagram. Less time on Facebook. Less time on social media.

Your diet is your own journey. And stop comprising yourself to others. Everyone has a different path in life. And everyone has a different body, so you can’t compare yourself to others. Plus if you really think about it, when you compare yourself to others, usually it is a negative comparison. And there is a typical negative thought process that goes with it and then it leads to negative behaviors.

Instead of comparing yourself to others, compare yourself to where you were yesterday or last week or last month. This will help you achieve your short term goals and focus on the right thing.

In closing, keep these diet commandments in mind. Focus on them and you can be confident your diet plan will take you on the path toward success. And check out The Cinderella Solution if you are looking for a proven diet and exercise plan.
