Monat is a rapidly growing haircare company that sells natural haircare products. Because Monat uses MLM (multi-level marketing) to sell their haircare products, you’ve probably seen at least one or two Facebook friends promoting this natural haircare brand. And you’ve probably also noticed that it’s expensive.
Some people claim that Monat causes hair loss, scalp sores, irritation, burning and other side effects… (Monat is actually suing a lady who made those claims…)
If you want to up your hair game but don’t want to fork over the money for Monat, then fortunately there are quite a few excellent Monat shampoo alternatives on the market.
Before I learned that there was a whole wide world full of shampoos out there (whodda thunk it, right?) I was a Head & Shoulders girl. My husband used to have dandruff and because we had such a small shower, I just used his shampoo.
Then I started experiencing postpartum hair loss, so I started experimenting with various shampoo brands. There were plenty of misses and a few hits, including the following, which are all excellent shampoo brands and provide a great, wallet-friendly alternative to Monat shampoo. So if you are looking for shampoo or hair products that are similar to Monat, I will share my experience with the best alternative.
All-Natural Monat Shampoo Alternatives
1. ArtNaturals Organic Moroccan Oil Shampoo
Argan oil has long been known for it’s ability to restore and regrow hair and enhance it’s appearance. This ArtNaturals Organic Moroccan oil shampoo and conditioner is cruelty-free, paraben-free and sulfate-free and contains a blend of argan oil, aloe vera and echinacea.
Unlike other shampoos, ArtNaturals Organic Moroccan oil shampoo leaves no residue which means you won’t have that buildup on your hair that makes it appear flat and dull. And if you suffer from hair loss (including postpartum hair loss) then this is probably the best shampoo for you to try, due to the fact that argan oil stimulates your scalp and promotes new hair growth.
This is my personal favorite Monat shampoo alternative.
2. Dermachange Organic Vegan Hair Growth Shampoo & Conditioner
Dermachange Organic Vegan Hair Growth Shampoo is highly rated and made with an organic formula that is free from parabens, sulfates, gluten, fragrance and alcohol.
If you’re trying to grow your hair longer, thicker and stronger, then you’ll love that this shampoo contains ingredients like cassava root, aloe vera, amino acids and vitamin b5, all of which provide nourishment to your hair and thicken hair fibers. Additionally, the orange peel oil in this shampoo makes it a good option for people with dandruff.

3. Active Wow Argan Oil Hair Loss Shampoo
I love the luxe looking bottle this Active Wow Argan Oil Hair Loss Shampoo comes in, and I’m a fan of the pump action. But we’re more interested in the ingredients of this shampoo, right?
This shampoo contains no harmful chemicals, which means no parabens or sulfates. What it does contain is a range of natural botanicals that smell delicious and almost sound good enough to eat – ingredients like pumpkin seed, green tea, organic argan oil, nettle and caffeine. It also contains biotin and and keratin which help to stimulate hair growth.
4. Lipogaine Hair Growth Stimulating Shampoo
This Lipogaine Hair Growth Stimulating Shampoo comes in a relatively nondescript bottle, but it’s packed full of natural ingredients that help to prevent hair breakage and promote growth. Castor oil, one of the ingredients in this shampoo, has long been lauded for it’s ability to promote strong, healthy hair. Other ingredients include biotin, caffeine and argan oil.
Important to remember…
Ultimately, the best shampoo for you is personal. Everyone’s hair is different and what works for one person might not work for someone else.
Also, remember to give your hair a chance to adjust to a new shampoo formula, especially if you’ve been using the same brand for years.
